Power NI, Northern Ireland’s leading electricity provider, visited Queen’s Students’ Union on Wednesday 14th March as part of the university’s ‘Money Week Market’ for National Student Money Week.
Amy Bennington, Power NI Marketing & Communications placement student commented: “Power NI is keen to get even more involved with students to help them save money. Being a part of the ‘Money Week Market’ with Queen’s University was a great opportunity for us to speak to students and advise them on what we can do to help them.
“One of the key things we promoted was the Power NI ‘pay as you go’ Keypad which is a favourite with students in their accommodation. There are many benefits of being a Power NI Keypad customer including saving 2.5% discount off every unit of electricity used. The Keypad is free to install, it monitors the amount of electricity you are using helping you budget and there are no more paper bills. Students find it handy as it’s just like topping up a mobile phone and you can share the costs with your housemates, so it’s not just one person in charge of paying.
“Power NI have more ways to ‘top up’ than any other supplier including over the phone 24/7, via the Power NI website or at any Post Office, PayPoint or Payzone outlet. You can also ‘top up’ via the Power NI Keypad app which is free to download from iTunes and Android Market.”
Debbie Forsey, Money Management Advisor at Queen’s University Students’ Union Advice Centre, added: “Our main aim is to provide advice and guidance to QUB students on debt, money management and general student financial issues. National Student Money Week allowed universities across the UK the opportunity to send out positive messages to students on money related issues and hopefully improve student financial capability in the process.
“We are delighted that Power NI were able to be a part of ‘Money Market Week’ and we thank them for their continued support in helping students manage their finances.”
