We have changed our name to Power NI

Power NI

We have three NI-based contact centres in Antrim, Belfast and Omagh. We wanted to include these in our ad as we feel that it is important for our customers to speak to a local person who understands their needs. Omagh Contact Centre was chosen to feature and our staff were chomping at the bit to take part – we even held a few auditions! Sharon Burke, one of the Omagh Contact Centre Team Leaders was chosen to be our call agent in focus.

Sharon Burke – Omagh Contact Centre Team Leader

Sharon had this to say about her starring role:
“I really enjoyed being a part of our new TV ad, we’re a local company with local staff – I’m based at our contact centre in Omagh and it’s great that we’re using our own staff in the ad where we can. Filming was an interesting process with so much time and effort being put into producing the ad in front of and behind the scenes.”

“It was a fabulous opportunity which I thoroughly enjoyed and I appreciated being a part of such an important change for our company.”

John McCay

John McCay – Farm Energy Account Manager

John McCay, our Farm Energy Account Manager also features in the ad; you can see him talking to the farmer at the start of the commercial.

John said:
“I am proud to have been able to play a part in such a great campaign. It was a wonderful experience and one that was very new to me.”

“I’m a farmer by background and through my work with Power NI I spend a lot of my time on farms across Northern Ireland to look at how we can help the agricultural community save money and energy. To be honest I am not used to being in front of the cameras, the most publicity I would ever get would be helping out on the stand at the Balmoral Show.”

“When developing our new campaign the Power NI team sought to ensure that we used local actors, local musicians and local settings to reinforce our heritage of over 80 years of serving the people of Northern Ireland. It is also a good opportunity for us to remind customers that we are the people you contact to find out about our discounted electricity schemes including Keypad ‘Pay as you go’, billing enquiries and energy saving grants and special offers.”

Ben Steele

Ben Steele

Five year old Ben Steele from Greyabbey has received his big television break as the star of a new advertising campaign by Power NI, the new name for NIE Energy.

Ben was chosen by Power NI, Northern Ireland’s leading energy provider to star in its advertising campaign along with the company’s Farm Manager John McCay.

Speaking about his role, Ben said:
“I really loved working with all the people and had a lot of fun with the cameras. It was brilliant to see myself on television and I can’t wait to tell all my friends about it when I start school in September.”

Outlining the reasons for casting Ben, Power NI’s John McCay said:
“Ben has such a natural screen presence that from the moment we saw him we knew that we wanted him for the role and he was an absolute joy to work with. When developing our new campaign the Power NI team sought to ensure that we used local actors, local musicians and local settings to reinforce our heritage of over 80 years of serving the people of Northern Ireland.”

“We also filmed part of our advertisement at Ben’s grandfather’s farm in Ards as he is one of the many farm customers across Northern Ireland who would be able to benefit from our Farm Nightsaver tariff.”
