Our top tips for saving energy on your farm

Dairy farm

  • Our Farm Nightsaver is the best tariff for farmers.  Heat all water on cheap ‘night rate’ if possible
  • Check time switches are matched to the cheap ‘night saver’ billing option
  • Clean condenser coils to ensure heat can dissipate easily
  • Lag all water pipes & tanks
  • Fit a heat exchanger to pre-cool the milk – this can reduce cooling costs by up to 50%
  • Switch off all lights, including fluorescents when not required

Pig farm

  • Clean fans & air ducts – dirt can reduce fan efficiency by 60%
  • Draught proof doors & windows to stop heat escaping
  • Fit accurate heating & ventilation controls – over ventilating can double heat costs
  • Pre soak buildings that are to be power washed, this can save 20% in energy costs & labour
