Why are prices increasing?
This 5.6% increase is the first since 2013 and is due to increases in the costs of producing electricity, such as the cost of fuel used in power stations.
Power NI have been working hard to ensure prices remain stable for customers, our tariff year typically runs for one year and we cut our prices by 10.3% in April 2016. We were due to make a price change in April 2017 this year, but held off as long as possible. Increases in the cost of producing electricity have meant we have had to make this increase now and cannot hold off any longer.
