Can we have a Keypad meter installed?

Keypad meters aren’t suitable for houses of multiple occupancy (HMO’s). This is due to the wiring of alarms which means a constant supply of electricity is necessary.

Is only one person (the caller) responsible for payment?

Every tenant living at the property is jointly responsible for payment. After you register your student property we will send you a joint tenancy form. This needs to be filled out by each student and returned within two weeks to update the account details.

What happens if someone moves out early?

To be taken off an electricity account the tenant moving needs to call with a final meter reading. They will then be billed up to the point when they left the property. Provided they have been added to the account by filling in the joint tenancy form.

Should we set up a separate bank account to pay by a Direct Debit?

This is an option which means it won’t be coming out of just one person’s bank account but everyone can pay into a joint account towards bills.

Will I have a bad credit rating if my flatmate doesn’t pay for part of the bill?

This isn’t the case. As long as you have contacted us with a final read for your electricity usage and paid up to the point you were responsible for, you will no longer be liable for payment and your name will be taken off the account.

What happens when we are moving out?

Simply call us with a final meter reading on your final day in the property to close your account. We will also require a forwarding address for the final bill to be sent.
