What is the best way for students to pay?

There’s options to suit your lifestyle.

Our best discounted rates come with Direct Debit.  

  • Monthly Direct Debit provides a 4%* discount 
  • Quarterly Direct Debit provides a 2.5%** discount.

If you decide to pay by Monthly Direct Debit, you will pay smaller amounts in advance of the bill on an agreed date each month. If you decide to pay by Quarterly Direct Debit, you will pay the full amount of the bill 14 days after the bill has been issued directly from a bank/building society account.

Other payment options include standard quarterly billing. With this option you will receive a bill each quarter and you can choose to pay online or by using our free app. You can also pay over the phone or at any Pay Point or Post Office.

With each of these payment methods you can also regsiter for an Energy Online account which not only makes it easy to manage your account online but also gives you an additional 2% online billing discount****.

*Monthly Direct Debit customers get 4% discount off the Power NI standard rate, up to £10 per quarter equivalent to £40 per year.  The maximum discount would be obtained by a customer spending £250 each quarter on electricity.  Power NI standard rate is 16.82p kWh Ex.Vat / 17.66p kWh Inc. Vat. 

**Quarterly Direct Debit customers get 2.5% discount off the Power NI standard rate up to £6.50 per quarter equivalent to £26 per year. The maximum discount would be obtained by a customer spending £250 each quarter on electricity. Power NI standard rate is 16.82p kWh Ex.Vat / 17.66p kWh Inc. Vat. 

***Energy Online customers with monthly  Direct Debit get 4% discount off the Power NI standard rate, up to £10 per quarter equivalent to £40 per year and will receive a further 2% off the Power NI standard rate, up to £5 per quarter equivalent to £20 per year.

Energy Online customers with Quarterly Direct Debit get 2.5% discount off the Power NI standard rate, up to £6.50 per quarter equivalent to £26 per year and will receive a further 2% off the Power NI standard rate, up to £5 per quarter equivalent to £20 per year.

Credit metered customers paying standard unit rate, will receive 2% discount off the Power NI standard rate, up to £5 per quarter equivalent to £20 per year, by activating an Energy Online account.
