We use a basic version of the energy model used for Energy Performance Certificates. The property size, shape, physical materials and the heating characteristics are taken into account. There are a set of assumptions for your heating patterns and usage of hot water and lighting. For example, we assume that the living room is heated to 21°C and the rest of the house to 18°C for 9 hours during weekdays and for 16 hours at the weekend.
The floor area of the property is estimated by the software using 3 things: the property type, the number of rooms and the property age. The number of people living in the property is then estimated from the floor area. All aspects of this calculation have been put together by built-environment experts using national statistics. The estimates of your fuel bill & potential savings donʼt include energy use for household electrical appliances.
