Powerful fundraising from Power NI
Local girls Amy, Faye and Kirsty from Power NI have helped pull out all the stops to raise money for Northern Ireland Hospice.
Power NI’s placement students Amy Bennington from Banbridge, Faye Bradley from Magherafelt and Kirsty Pollock from Belfast have put all their energy into raising an amazing £7,125 for the charity.
The girls were overwhelmed by the generosity and enthusiasm from their colleagues at Power NI. Speaking on behalf of the students, Amy commented; “We are delighted to be able to hand over this money to Northern Ireland Hospice and we want to take this opportunity to thank all the staff at Power NI for their support throughout the year.”
Amy, Faye and Kirsty reached their grand total by organising staff fundraising events within the Power NI offices including bun sales, quizzes and raffles, even making sausage and bacon butties for colleagues. However, the powerful trio didn’t stop there, the three students participated in an abseil down the Europa Hotel in Belfast, as well as entering two staff relay teams into this year’s Belfast City Marathon.
Northern Ireland Hospice is a local charity dedicated to local people, caring for over 3,000 adults, children and young people every year with life-limiting and life threatening conditions. Their work is only possible due to the generosity of local people who raise the funding needed to provide their services.
The money raised by the girls has enabled Northern Ireland Hospice to provide over 250 hours of specialist nursing care within the local community. Ellen Hillen, Corporate Fundraising Manager for the charity added; “Power NI has made a valuable contribution to the work of the hospice, helping us to provide much needed support to patients, their families and their carers. “On behalf of NI Hospice, I would like to say a huge thank you to Amy, Faye, Kirsty and all the staff at Power NI for their dedication and hard work in raising this fantastic amount of money for our charity.” The three students are soon to be finishing their placement year with Power NI and are looking forward to going back to university and putting all their energy into completing their degrees.
