Power NI sponsors YFCU Club of the Year competition

Wednesday, September 18, 2013

Power NI, Northern Ireland’s leading electricity supplier, is partnering up with the Young Farmers’ Clubs of Ulster (YFCU) by sponsoring their Club of the Year competition for 2013-2014.

The annual competition is taking on a new format this year with different stages testing clubs on their traditional practices, community involvement, recruitment campaign, retention statistics and participation levels in YFCU competitions. The winning club will be awarded their prize from Power NI at the 2014 AGM to be held on Saturday 5th April at the Ramada Hotel, Belfast. Power NI’s Farm Energy Manager, John McCay says: “We’re delighted to be sponsoring the award and getting involved with an organisation that plays such a vital role in the farming sector in Northern Ireland. We have also just launched an online campaign which will run for the remainder of September and throughout October with YFCU, encouraging them to become Energy Managers for their farm and letting them know more about how to save energy and money. “Energy Online is our paperless billing service and is available to all of our customers who pay by Direct Debit. Energy Online gives customers 24/7 access to their account details including balances, meter readings and latest payments, and is an excellent way of keeping track of electricity usage and carbon emissions. Above all, our Energy Online service saves you a further 1% discount, on top of the usual 4% Direct Debit discount, and with your account number takes only 30 seconds to activate.” YFCU President, Martyn Blair, says: “We are grateful to Power NI for sponsoring our Club of the Year Award, one of the most coveted competition titles within the Association. We’re so pleased for Power NI’s involvement in advising our young farmers on how they can become an ‘Energy Manager’ at home. It is important for farms to cut costs where they can and this campaign works alongside our aim of advancing the education of young people in agriculture, rural life and active citizenship.” Power NI is the only supplier in Northern Ireland to offer a dedicated farm energy support service to its customers and has established itself as the natural choice for local farmers when it comes to choosing a supplier. Over 700 farms and businesses have switched back to Power NI since the start of this year, seeking real value for money and savings that last from a supplier they know and trust. John concludes: “I know how hard it has been in the farming business recently but Power NI’s discounts, tariffs and energy saving products help make it easier for farmers to concentrate on what they do best – delivering world class produce.” To activate your Energy Online account today, visit www.powerni.co.uk/energy-online or to find out more about saving money and energy on your farm with Power NI, visit www.powerni.co.uk/farm
