Power NI announce 9.2% price cut

Monday, March 23, 2015

Power NI is delighted to announce we are cutting prices by 9.2%, effective from 1st April 2015

The Power NI price cut is in addition to Power NI discounts on offer of up to £60** a year, which help customers save even more.

The price cut is possible due to lower wholesale gas prices, which have recently resulted in lower electricity generation prices.

Stephen McCully, Managing Director of Power NI, said:

“We have been able to take advantage of this opportunity and initiated a process with our Regulator to implement an early price review.

“We promised that we would always look for ways to reduce prices and save our customers money. I’m happy to say that we can now deliver lower prices. This means more money in the pockets of householders and, with business and farms also seeing a similar price reduction, it’s good news all round.”

The Power NI price cut has been agreed with the Utility Regulator and follows consultation with the Consumer Council and the Department of Enterprise, Trade and Investment.

Stephen McCully added: “You can be confident that you’ll always pay a fair price with Power NI. We believe in offering discounts to every single one of our customers, year in, year out.”

Non-domestic customers on Power NI’s most popular regulated SME business and farm tariffs will also see a similar overall reduction. The decrease will cut £200 a year off a typical small business on Popular Option with bills of around £575 a quarter. Business customers can also save even more by switching to online paperless billing with direct debit, which offers 6% discountoff the standard rates. The savings for larger users on tailored contracts will vary depending on the type of contract.

With Power NI there are no fixed contracts or cancellation penalties, giving you the freedom and peace of mind to choose the best discounted payment plan for you, view options available.

Business and farm electricity prices are also reducing, so this is good news all round.
