Shining the spotlight on Stacey Flood

Power NI, part of Energia group, are proud to have Ireland International Stacey Flood as a brand ambassador alongside fellow International Hugo Keenan. The Dubliner is one of several players juggling rugby 7s and 15s commitments alongside a career in sales development.

From Rathmines, Dublin, and the youngest of six children. A renowned sportswoman, Stacey played soccer and ladies Gaelic football for club and represented Dublin. Stacey took up rugby at 17, joining her beloved Railway Union rugby. Stacey discovered a passion for rugby and at 18, she was quickly contracted to Ireland’s 7s programme. The competitive gene is front and centre in the Flood DNA; her sister Kim played Irish Rugby in both 7s and 15s codes and an All-Ireland Gaelic football champion.

Stacey made her international senior 7s debut in 2015 and has gone on to play at every stage of the World Rugby 7s Series. Flood was called into the national 15s squad in October 2020 and the TikTok Women’s Six Nations the following year. Flood recently represented Ireland in the Women’s Sevens squad in Dubai and South Africa at the HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series. It has been quite the journey for Stacey, from modest beginnings results-wise to more recent success becoming a key figure in the squad.

The 2023 TikTok Women’s Six Nations will again be played in its own six-week window from 25 March to 29 April. Stacey is likely to feature in the Irish squad with her strong contribution in previous tournaments. Venues for Ireland’s home games are due to be confirmed shortly with RTÉ and Virgin Media continuing their live coverage of the entire Championship.
