About the grant

Power NI has secured funding the from the Northern Ireland Sustainable Energy Programme (NISEP) to help businesses with the cost of installing variable speed technology

Variable speed technology is one of the most cost-effective energy saving technologies, yet despite this, there still remains considerable scope to install across a range of commercial applications throughout Northern Ireland.

Variable speed technology is like a 'dimmer switch' that automatically reduces the speed of a motor when it's not busy. You may have noticed this effect on escalators which slow down when no one is on them and speed up when in use. Variable speed technology can dramatically reduce the amount of electricity used by motors for intermittent jobs e.g. pumps, ventilation fans, air compressors, refrigeration etc.

Power NI successfully applied for funding from the Northern Ireland Sustainable Energy Programme (NISEP) for Variable speed technology during 2021-22 and a grant of 20% will be made available towards the cost of installation.

Any supplier or installer participating in a project where NISEP funding applies should adhere to the NISEP Vendor Requirements.
