Elmer’s Big Belfast Trail has taken to the streets of Belfast for the summer and Power NI, Northern Ireland’s leading electricity supplier, is another local business announced as a sponsor of the huge public art event, which launched last week.
Power NI is supporting NI Hospice with their own unique Elmer the Elephant sculpture for the 10 weeks of the trail. Power NI’s elephant, named ‘Written in the Stars’ and beautifully designed by local artist, Amira McDonagh, is located on the Titanic Slipways with the H&W Cranes, Titanic Belfast and Titanic Studios in the background.
The art trail, organised by NI Hospice in partnership with Wild in Art and Andersen Press, celebrates 21 years of Children’s Hospice care in Northern Ireland and is completely free for members of the public to enjoy right through the summer until 31 August.
Power NI joins other event sponsors, artists, schools, youth clubs, community groups, the media, councils, and businesses organisations, who have all come together to help deliver the event in aid of Northern Ireland Hospice.
Power NI’s Amy Bennington said: “We are so excited to have joined Elmer’s Big Belfast Trail this summer and we can’t wait to see all of Belfast enjoying this very colourful herd of elephants. We have been a proud supporter of NI Hospice at Power NI for many years and this latest project is a great way to spread positive energy across the city and showcase some of our finest local artists too!”
NI Hospice’s Mary McCall commented: “We are delighted to welcome Power NI on board as another sponsor of Elmer’s Big Belfast Trail as we bring a blast of colour this summer to the streets of Belfast! We’re looking forward to working in partnership to promote the trail and celebrate our 21st birthday in style.”
