Power NI has brightened up Downey House Pre-School by donating £250 for a playground mural, just in time to brighten up their Spring breaktimes!
The mural transformed a blank mobile classroom wall into a bright street scene to compliment the trike play area for junior pupils.
Power NI employee Debra Stevenson nominated the school for the funding though the company’s Helping Hands scheme. This initiative allows employees to nominate a local group or organisation to receive funding to boost community activities.
Debra, whose daughter Olivia attends the school said, ‘It’s fantastic to be able to give back to the school and make the school an even more enjoyable experience for the kids in attendance’.
Based in East Belfast, Downey House Pre-School is a preparatory school for Methodist College Belfast. The school opened in 1933 and since then has celebrated diversity, opportunity and excellence both in the classroom and extra-curricular activities.
Thanking Power NI for the funding, Downey House Head of Pre-School, Gemma Kerr, said, ‘The £250 has really made a fabulous visual impact in brightening up the landscape of our school – the kids love break time even more now!’
