Power NI, Northern Ireland’s leading energy supplier, has donated £250 to Belfast School of Performing Arts (BSPA), as part of its staff sponsorship scheme, ‘Helping Hands’.
The Northern Ireland wide theatre school was nominated for the funding by Power NI employee, Aine Bloomer whose daughter attends the school. The sponsorship scheme run by Power NI encourages employees to nominate local organisations and community groups which they are involved with.
The funding was used to purchase large puppets and percussion to be used by the Belfast School of Performing Arts Juniors aged 3-5. These new puppets and instruments will nurture and promote creativity, encourage fun and enjoyment and promote self-esteem and confidence.
Ecstatic with the funding, Aine commented; “I am delighted to be able to nominate this fantastic organisation to receive musical instruments and puppets for their weekly classes. All of these things help the children build their self-confidence, boost their social skills as well as making new friends. It was great to see the puppets in action and the happy smiles on each of the children’s faces. Power NI value their customers and strongly recognise the importance in giving back to the community and the ‘Helping Hands’ scheme is a great initiative for employees like myself to ensure this is reflected through local groups and organisations like BSPA.”
Belfast School of Performing Arts is Northern Ireland's leading Theatre School for 3-19 year olds. With schools located in Belfast, Lisburn, Ballymena and Bangor, they strive to help their students grow in confidence so they can excel within the performing arts world and develop their social skills along the way. A main emphasis of the school is to encourage fun, whilst learning in a strong creative and happy environment where students can make friendships for life.
Laura Johnston, teacher at Belfast School of Performing Arts said; “Belfast School of Performing Arts are delighted and very grateful to Power NI for their continued support and generous contribution. Our children love their new puppet friends and musical instruments. Thank you Power NI.”
