The Power of Volunteering energises local communities

During Volunteer Week 2019 (03/06/2019 - 07/06/2019), eighty Power NI staff volunteers from Belfast, Antrim and Omagh took part in various activities to support the local community, in partnership with Business in the Community Northern Ireland (BITCNI).

To launch the new partnership, 20% of our staff dedicated a day out of their busy work schedule to give back to local charities in areas spanning from Belfast to Tyrone. Teams visited a range of organisations throughout Volunteer Week, including Belfast based Mencap, APEX, North Belfast Alternatives, Harberton School and Arellian Nursery, as well as People’s Park in Ballymena and An Creagan in Tyrone.

The volunteers were proactive in carrying out tasks such as painting and gardening. This provided a great opportunity to give practical help to the organisations, as well as learning about the vital work they do along the way.

As we are committed to giving back to local causes across Northern Ireland, Volunteer Week is a great opportunity for us to partner with organisations such as Business in the Community Northern Ireland (BITCNI), who share the same vision. The work undertaken throughout Volunteer Week supports our efforts to contribute to local communities, alongside The Helping Hands scheme and Brighter Communities programme.
