Power NI is proud to be a key business partner of The Irish News Workplace & Employment Awards 2014, which officially launched in yesterday’s Irish News.

Pictured at the launch of the Irish News Workplace & Employment Awards 2014 at Titanic Belfast are John Brolly (Irish News), Gillian McAuley (Power NI), Amy Bennington (Power NI), and Gary McDonald (Irish News). The Irish News Workplace & Employment Awards have been praised for “encouraging Northern Ireland organisations to approach the future with great hope and confidence”.

Now in their eighth year, the 2014 awards will take place in Titanic Belfast on Thursday 19th June, hosted by the BBC’s Karen Patterson and, as in previous years, the gala dinner is likely to be a 400-plus sell-out. Department for Employment and Learning minister Dr Stephen Farry was among guests at the formal launch of the awards on Tuesday in Titanic Belfast, where he was welcomed by Irish News editor Noel Doran. “These awards help to recognise excellence and dynamism in the workplace and clearly support the skills work being taken forward by my department,” Dr Farry said. “Skills are widely accepted as the key raw material in the modern knowledge-based economy and are the key driver in how we in Northern Ireland can achieve our economic goals.” Among the guest speakers at the launch was Feargal McCormack, managing partner of Newry-based chartered accountancy practice FPM, a previous winner of five Workplace & Employment Awards (including Right Place to Work 2013). “The challenge for business is to unleash the energy in their team members to be creative and innovate collectively because a united team, on an agreed journey and a common vision and purpose, is required to deliver sustainable growth. Things don’t just happen – it’s the people who make things happen.” “These awards help to create the correct attitude among employers and employees, to change the mind-set to one of continuous improvement, and I urge all organisations to acknowledge the achievements of their workforce and by putting themselves forward in at least one of this year’s Irish News Workplace & Employment Awards categories”.
