As part of a wider initiative supported by Power NI's parent company Energia Group, charities across Ireland have received funding, including a number of foodbanks, as well as the Black Santa sit-out appeals in Belfast and Dublin.

Three foodbanks across Northern Ireland received their share of £30,000 to help support people in need in the local community, as well as Crosscare, a social care services provider based in Dublin through the donation of €10,000, and a contribution of €35,000 to the annual Black Santa Appeal.

Energia Group has provided ongoing support for several community-based organisations as part of the company’s commitment to communities across Ireland. The Group has lent its support to a number of charities whose aim is to care for and look after those facing difficult circumstances and challenging times.

The company is continuing to support food banks in Antrim, Belfast, Omagh and Dublin. As part of the donations, Energia Group has helped to ensure that the essential services offered by the organisation continue all year round, helping those that need it most.

Support has also been provided to the annual Black Santa sit-out appeal. The event which gets its name from the long, heavy black cloaks worn by those that are participating seeks to raise vital funds for several charities. This year’s appeal will have a focus on charities who are helping younger people who have particular needs in the community.

Gary Ryan, Managing Director of Customer Solutions at Energia Group, comments: “We are delighted to once again be supporting Crosscare, Food Banks and the annual Black Santa Appeal. As an energy supplier to homes and businesses across the North and South of Ireland, we understand how important it is to help communities where we operate and work. As community engagement is a key priority for us across all aspects of our business, providing annual support for such worthy causes is important to us all.”

Pastor Graham McElhinney from Reach Foodbank, Omagh, said: “On behalf of Omagh Foodbank, I'd like to thank Power NI, part of Energia Group for the kind donation that we received. We are so grateful for the support, and funding like this is truly transformational for a charity of our size. This will ensure that we can continue to provide food to people most in need in our local area.”
