Loughmacrory GAA Handball Club have received a generous donation from Power NI, Northern Ireland’s leading energy provider, to support a three-day handball tournament, hosted in County Tyrone.

The Power NI Lough Showdown 2025 saw over two hundred and fifty competitors face each other head-to-head, celebrating the Lough Showdown’s tenth anniversary, with participants from all over Ireland and multiple World Champions from last year. The event was a huge success, displaying outstanding performances from Antrim’s Nina McBride, Breacach’s Eilise McCrory, Dublin's Ciara O'Reilly, Cork's Cian Dunning and Galway’s Bertie Donohoe.

Power NI employees’ Kenny Curran, Michael Crawford, Ronan Mullin and Joe Gordon, jointly nominated the Handball Club, receiving £1200 through Power NI’s employee initiative, Helping Hands.

"The 'Lough Showdown' is now a famous annual event in the national handball calendar which attracts many of the top handballers of all ages from around the country. I am very proud to have Power NI associated with this event,” said Kenny. “Our support from Power NI in recent years has been just amazing and we are delighted to maintain this partnership as it has been a huge boost for the handball community of Loughmacrory."

Martin Toner, Chairman of Loughmacrory GAA Handball club added: “This is the tenth year of the Lough Showdown so it’s special for the club this year. We are so grateful to Power NI for continuing to back our efforts to promote the brilliant sport of handball in our local community, and to help us host a major event which attracts handball enthusiasts to Loughmacrory from all over Ireland.”
