Power NI is proud to have supported the Young Farmers’ Clubs of Ulster (YFCU) annual Choir Festival once again, as Platinum Sponsor and Sustainability Partner. The event, held on Friday 6th December 2024 in the Whitla Hall at Methodist College, Belfast, saw over 200 members from 10 clubs across Northern Ireland come together to showcase a variety of musical performances.

Despite the wet and stormy weather, the festival drew a fantastic turnout, with a large audience coming along to support the participating clubs. The evening was expertly adjudicated by John Trueman, with inspiring and constructive feedback provided to the performers. The guest speaker, Tina McVeigh, Director of the Belfast School of Performing Arts, also shared valuable advice, ensuring the night was both enjoyable and educational for all involved.

The following awards were presented by Power NI to the worthy category winners:

• Best Solo: Oliver John O’Hara  from Moycraig YFC

• Best Choral Piece: Moneymore YFC

• Best Accompaniment: Edward McKendry from Lisnamurrican YFC

• Best Newcomer: Lisnamurrican YFC

In the overall winners category, Curragh YFC secured third place, Moneymore YFC claimed second, and Coleraine YFC proudly took first place for the second consecutive year.

Power NI Marketing Manager Amy Bennington commented: “We were delighted to support the YFCU Choir Festival for another year. It’s always a joyful and festive event to be part of. Well done to all the clubs that entered – it was fantastic to see so many from across Northern Ireland take part. A huge congratulations to Coleraine YFC on another well-deserved win, two years in a row!”

YFCU President Richard Beattie added: “The choir festival was a great success. The clubs that took part put a lot of hard work and effort into their performances, which really showed on the night. It certainly got everyone in the festive spirit.”

Sarah Smyth, Secretary of Coleraine YFC, shared her excitement: “Coleraine YFC were over the moon to hear their name called as winners of the choir festival, especially as we regained the title from last year. Our members were full of pride, excitement, and a sense of accomplishment as all the hard work and dedication put into rehearsals paid off.”

As long-time supporters of YFCU, Power NI remains committed to empowering young people in rural communities and fostering opportunities for creativity, collaboration, and growth. Congratulations to everyone who took part in this inspiring event!
