Power NI is proud to have supported the Young Farmers’ Clubs of Ulster (YFCU) annual Choir Festival once again, as Platinum Sponsor and Sustainability Partner. The event, held on Friday 5th December 2025 at Rainey Endowed School, Magherafelt, saw 5 clubs across Northern Ireland come together to showcase a variety of musical performances.

Despite the wet and stormy weather, the festival drew a fantastic turnout, with a large audience coming along to support the participating clubs. The evening was expertly adjudicated by Darren Day, with inspiring and constructive feedback provided to the performers. Darren stated “I was looking for a choir who would tell a story with their performance. I want to believe everything they are singing and be brought along for the journey. I want to see the passion in someone’s eyes and in their facial expressions.” He offered high praise to all choirs, accompanists and conductors, stating that the overall standard was outstanding. So impressed was he by the quality across the board that selecting the top positions proved particularly challenging.

The guest speaker, Sheelagh Greer, also shared valuable advice, ensuring the night was both enjoyable and educational for all involved.

The following awards were presented by Power NI to the worthy category winners:

• Best Solo: James McConnell, Collone YFC

• Best Choral Piece: Moneymore YFC

• Best Accompaniment: Roseanna Hunter, Moneymore YFC

In the overall winner's category, Collone YFC secured third place, Curragh YFC claimed second, and Moneymore YFC proudly took first place.

Power NI Marketing Manager Amy Bennington commented: “We were delighted to support the Choir Festival again as part of our Platinum Sponsorship of the YFCU, and it's always a great event to kick off the festive season every year. Well done to all the clubs that entered and provided a great programme of music on the night. A huge congratulations to all the award winners, particularly Moneymore YFC on a well-deserved first place win!
