A County Antrim sports club has been able to purchase new training equipment and tablet devices after receiving a donation from Power NI – Northern Ireland’s leading energy provider.
Templepatrick Cricket Club was awarded sponsorship through the Helping Hands charitable initiative after being nominated by club member – and Power NI employee – David Caldwell.
Helping Hands is a staff-based scheme where Power NI workers are given the opportunity to put forward a person, group, or organisation they believe are deserving of financial support.
Club Chairman Colin Morrow welcomed the funding, saying: “The club, which is run entirely by volunteers, will receive a number of tablets thanks to the Power NI Helping Hands scheme.
“These tablets will provide much-needed flexibility for the club's day-to-day operations, from video coaching sessions and match scoring to team photos and social media management.
“This is the second time Templepatrick Cricket Club has been awarded funding through the Helping Hands scheme. The continued support from Power NI is invaluable to the club, and it allows us to continue providing a valuable service to the local community,” added Colin.
Formed back in 1969 – and based at the Cloughan – Templepatrick Cricket Club currently has well over 200 members – of all ages – ranging from four years and up. In total, it fields five senior teams, and boasts one of the biggest youth systems in the province for boys and girls.
“As a member of Templepatrick Cricket Club since the early Nineties, the club has given me so much,” said David. “I am delighted to be able to give something back through Power NI’s Helping Hands scheme. The tablets will ensure the club stays on top of the digitalisation of cricket, allowing us to continue providing this valuable sport to those in the local community.”
