CDE goes green with Power NI reducing carbon footprint by 600 tonnes

CDE, the world’s number one wet processing equipment company, will save just over 630 tonnes of CO₂ by choosing Green Energy generated by local, renewable sources only.

Power NI, Northern Ireland’s leading energy provider, will supply CDE with over 2.1 gigawatt hours (GWh) of electricity – the same amount of energy that would power over 650 homes for a year. By choosing a Green Energy contract, CDE will save approximately 630 tonnes of carbon due to the electricity being sourced from 100% renewables.

Power NI supplies around 40,000 businesses across NI with around 55GWh of electricity provided as Green Energy. Power NI’s parent company, Energia Group, to date has invested over €1 billion in the energy market across NI and ROI focusing on their core segments of Renewables, Flexible Generation and Customer Solutions.

The Green Energy contract will see Power NI supply CDE’s global headquarters in Cookstown and its world-class fabrication facilities in Monkstown and Cookstown.

In 2019, CDE officially opened its Centre of Excellence in Cookstown which is home to the world’s largest engineering team dedicated to wet processing technologies for the sand and aggregates, mining, construction and demolition waste recycling, industrial sands and environmental sectors.

The state-of-the-art workspace was designed to strengthen CDE’s commitment to the environment and features a cutting-edge building management system that automates natural ventilation and cooling to minimise energy consumption as well as a rainwater harvesting system. Comprised of 60% glass, it also reduces the company’s reliance on artificial lighting.
