Power NI – Northern Ireland’s leading energy provider – has donated £1,200 to Young Lives vs Cancer to support families whose children are undergoing cancer treatment in Belfast.

Young Lives vs Cancer is the UK’s leading charity dedicated to supporting children and young people battling the disease. It provides crucial emotional, financial, and practical assistance, helping families navigate some of the most difficult experiences of their lives.

The Power NI funding will go towards n ew equipment for Amy’s House and Paul’s House – two Belfast-based facilities that are run by the charity. These two homes offer free accommodation for families, enabling them to stay close to their child during treatment at Royal Belfast Hospital for Sick Children while easing the emotional and financial strain of extended hospital stays.

The charity was nominated by Power NI employees Ian Fraser, Zandra Bill, Stephen Greer and Emma Smyth through the company’s Helping Hands initiative. The team expressed their pride in being able to support a cause that makes such a meaningful difference to families right across Northern Ireland.

Ian Fraser said: “We are all delighted that Power NI has been able to support a charity that provides essential, practical help to families during what is an incredibly challenging and tough time. The impact of this work and the difference it makes cannot be overstated.”

Ben Green, Fundraising Engagement Manager at Young Lives vs Cancer, welcomed the donation, adding: “This generous support from Power NI will allow us to invest in new equipment, helping ensure that families staying in our Belfast homes have access to the best possible facilities during their time with us.”

Power NI’s Helping Hands scheme allows staff at the energy company to nominate local charities and community groups they feel are deserving of financial support. To date, the initiative has awarded tens of thousands of pounds to Northern Ireland organisations.
