By making the most of Energia’s rugby partnerships in Northern Ireland, we can benefit our grassroots clubs, local players and coaches and every rugby-loving Power NI customer in-between.
A reminder of what sports should represent: inclusion, camaraderie and a sense of belonging. Teaming up with ex-rugby player Ian McKinley, we visited 4 mixed ability/tag rugby clubs across Northern Ireland to find out a bit more about the sport itself, the people involved and what the future looks like for mixed ability and tag rugby not only in Northern Ireland, but across the island of Ireland.
The three episodes featured below follow the players, the parents, the coaches and the volunteers within each of the featured clubs: Newforge Taggers, Ballymoney Blue Jays, Portadown Panthers and Malone Tornadoes. In partnership with Belfast Live, we recently visited a number of women’s rugby teams across Northern Ireland: Randalstown RFC, Malone RFC, Cooke RFC, QUBRFC and Harlequins RFC.
Brand ambassador, IRFU back-row Brittany Hogan chatted to the players, coaches and supporters who are helping to drive the sport forward, and we find out more about the successes and challenges faced, the community aspect of the game as well as the future of the game in Northern Ireland.
Sport has pride of place in communities all across Northern Ireland and through Energia's partnership with Irish Rugby, this not only enables us to support local communities but also actively engage with them, those young and old, of all backgrounds and interests, where grassroots teams and clubs are central. As such, we continue to work closely with Irish Rugby to facilitate development that recognises the contribution of Energia AIL clubs across communities all over.
