Focus on Family leads Quest

Monday, July 08, 2013

Focus on Family has become the first of six finalists to complete the second stage of Power NI’s Quest.

If they continue to be the first, they could win a fantastic £10,000 to be invested in renewable technology and other energy saving initiatives for their community. During the second step the group had to complete 100 online home energy checks through the Power NI website, which they were able to complete in just over a month. They are now working on step three which is to source 25 eligible free insulation referrals within their community.  The criteria based free insulation package from Power NI which is funded by the Northern Ireland Sustainable Energy Programme provides a full package of loft insulation (up to 300mm), cavity wall insulation, a hot water tank jacket (if applicable) and four energy saving light bulbs. The scheme is open to all homeowners and private renters. Focus on Family project manager, Brendan Patterson said; ‘’Hearing that we were the first group to progress to step three was brilliant news. We are dedicated to helping people in the local community think about their energy bills and act on reducing them, and Quest is already making a difference with this.’’ Their group mentor, Neil Coleman added; ‘’I am delighted with the progress of Focus on Family in the Quest challenge. This is only the start of our work in the area but the enthusiasm of the all those taking part has been great and it promises to be an exciting competition for all the participants.’’ Focus on Family must source 25 referrals for the NISEP free insulation scheme before they can move on to the fourth stage of Quest.
