Lakeland Community Care one step closer to £10,000

Thursday, May 30, 2013

Having just completed step one, Lakeland Community Care Belcoo, have officially began their Quest for £10,000 worth of renewable technology and other energy saving initiatives.

This step involved a community meeting with their Power NI mentor Neil Coleman who provided them with a presentation on all the challenges within the Quest competition, the benefits of energy saving and the background to Power NI.

They have now advanced onto step 2 which is completing 100 online Home Energy Checks.  Only when they complete this can they move onto step 3. Nikki McVeigh from Lakeland Community care said;

"We have never been involved in an energy saving project before so we are really excited to be chosen as a Quest finalist.  Our first step went very well; we are looking forward to the rest of the steps as the £10,000 award would make such a difference to our community".

The groups mentor, Neil Coleman, added;

"After seeing the participation involved in their first meeting, it is obvious that they will work very hard to win this competition.  It was very encouraging to see so many people together talking about Quest and even if they don’t win they are still dedicated enough to make a substantial, beneficial difference to their community".

Lakeland Community Care is now working to complete 100 online Home Energy Checks.  Once this is done they can advance onto step 3.
