Power NI announce the six Quest finalists
Power NI is delighted to announce the six finalists for the new community energy saving project, Quest, starting on 1st May.
The six selected groups will compete against each other for the chance to win a fantastic prize of £10,000 to invest in energy saving measures for their community. Following an overwhelming response of applications; the six finalists from across Northern Ireland include Cloughmills Community Action Team, Lakeland Community Care in Fermanagh, Focus on Family in Ballysally Coleraine, Claudy Rural Development in Derry, Castlewellan Futures and Newcastle Yacht Club. Power NI will be working closely with these groups throughout the duration of Quest to help them educate and empower members, residents and local businesses on how they can become more energy efficient and save money on their energy bills.
Project coordinator Neil Coleman said: ‘‘Quest is a new bespoke ten step energy saving programme unlike any challenge we have had before. Each group will receive funding, advice and support from Power NI along the way but only one group will be awarded the £10,000 to invest in their local area. “We’re delighted with the chosen groups who all are dedicated to the challenge and we know they will work hard to make a difference in their community, so we are looking forward to working with them.’’
The ten steps are based around initially educating and encouraging the community to think about their energy consumption through various activities such as training workshops, community meetings and availing of Power NI’s popular Home Energy Check to get a detailed understanding of each home’s energy rating.
Quest will also help benefit the energy needs of not only members but homes of all local residents, other community buildings and local businesses as Power NI looks to capture the spirit of the whole local community through Quest.
