Power NI, Northern Ireland’s leading energy supplier has donated £444 to Tiny Life in Carryduff. Tiny Life is the only charity in Northern Ireland that helps and support premature and vulnerable babies. Tiny Life used the money to purchase a sensory backpack for babies who are sensory impaired and is filled with toys and equipment that help develop their senses. The donation is a result of Power NI’s staff sponsorship scheme, ‘Helping Hands’, which encourages employees to nominate an organisation of their choice.
Power NI employee, Sharon Barrett, who has received support from Tiny Life, nominated the organisation to receive the donation. Sharon said: "Tiny life visited me every week after my twins were born for over two years. They came for a few hours every week to assist me with practical things. They looked after my twins while I did household tasks that were difficult and time consuming with two young babies like going to the chemist and buying groceries. I can’t thank them enough for what they have done for me and I am grateful to Power NI for helping to give something back!" Family support officer, Lynn Patterson, added: "Tiny Life is very thankful to Power NI for helping us purchase a sensory back pack. This back pack is very important when helping premature babies develop their senses, creativity and sense of adventure. The back pack is filled with toys that appeal to our senses like glow sticks, squishy balls and lava lamps. I bring the back pack on house calls and it’s been amazing to provide families with this kind of support and reassurance."
