Power NI, Northern Ireland’s leading energy supplier, recently donated £250 to County Antrim GAA team Éire Óg Doire Achaidh.

The donation is part of Power NI’s ‘Helping Hands’ staff sponsorship scheme which encourages employees to nominate organisations and groups in their local communities. Power NI employee Ciara Toolan selected the club to receive the funding as she has been an avid supporter of the club and their work with young people for several years.

Ciara Toolan, said: “I’m delighted to be able to support my local community and a team that I have grown up supporting. The ‘Helping Hands’ scheme is a fantastic way for Power NI employees to give back to the local community and support worthwhile groups”.

Éire Óg Doire Achaidh GAC (Gaelic Athletic Club) founded in 1932 is a small Gaelic club based in the outskirts of Dunmurry, It is the local club for the parishes of St Anne's and Our Lady Queen of Peace, providing Gaelic football and Hurling teams for the children of Derriaghy, Finaghy, Dunmurry, Black's Road, Glengoland and Cloona. The club has teams from Primary 1 level through to senior level.

With the help of Power NI’s staff sponsorship scheme, the funds allowed the club to purchase a range of medals and trophies to be presented to their youth teams at their awards' day on Sunday 10th December at Falls Bowling Club.

Ciaran McGarrity, Éire Óg Doire Achaidh club coach said: “On behalf of Éire Óg Doire Achaidh GAC we wish to thank Power NI for the contribution towards the awards' day that we recently held for our youth Gaelic football and camogie teams. The young girls and boys of Eire Og were ecstatic with the new medals and trophies that were awarded to them on the day. This type of support makes a big difference to our club.”
