Carrickfergus Academy celebrate after securing a £300 community grant thanks to Power NI’s staff sponsorship scheme ‘Helping Hands’
The initiative encourages Power NI staff members to put forward local clubs and organisations that they’re actively involved with to receive funding. The school was nominated by Power NI employee and ex-pupil, Rebecca Noble, and the £300 funding will go towards purchasing a Vinyl Cutter Plotter Machine for the school’s Art Department.
Students will be able to elevate their artwork using the brand new Vinyl Cutter and create stencils and resist layers for printing, graphics and model making lighting and fashion and textile design.
Carrickfergus Academy is an all ability, non-selective school for pupils aged 11-18 in the Carrickfergus area and beyond. The school is committed to providing all the young people in the community with an educational experience that promotes aspiration, excellence and endeavour in a caring, pupil centred environment.
Grateful for the funding, Rebecca Noble commented:
“As a former A-Level Art Pupil, I am thrilled to be able to nominate Carrickfergus Academy. I’m aware of how difficult it has been for many organisations to secure funding during these unprecedented times and I’m glad to be able to play my part. I know the equipment will be of great use to the school for years to come. Thank-you Power NI!”
Nadine Redmond, Head of Art and Design at Carrickfergus Academy also commented:
“Carrickfergus Academy Art Department are absolutely delighted to have received £300 through the Helping Hands scheme, to help purchase a Vinyl/Laser cutter for the Department. We certainly wouldn’t have had the budget to purchase it and it will help them produce high quality design.
Thanks to the very generous contribution from Power NI it has been made possible and we are very so very thankful indeed.”
