Belmont Playcare have received a £300 community grant from Power NI, Northern Ireland’s leading energy supplier.
The Belmont Road based Playcare was nominated to receive the community funding by Power NI employee, Gwyneth Compston, as part of the company’s staff sponsorship scheme ‘Helping Hands’, which gives staff the opportunity to put forward local groups and organisations for funding. Thanks to the donation, the Playcare was able to purchase a new iPad, which is invaluable to the team.
Belmont Playcare comprises of Belmont Playgroup and Pre-school, Afterschool and Breakfast Clubs. The playgroup has been in existence for over 50 years, with parents who once themselves attended now sending their own children. The centre is run by an excellent team of dedicated staff who not only provide a wonderful environment for the children to learn and develop, but also work alongside the parent-led committee.
Power NI is delighted to support Belmont Playcare by providing funding for a new iPad which has proven invaluable in allowing the team to take daily observations, assessing each child’s individual learning needs, and providing feedback to parents to promote home learning.
With the help of Power NI, the Playcare now has two iPads to share between staff ensuring that the children are not missing vital playgroup learning.
Grateful for the funding, Power NI employee Gwyneth Compston commented:
“As a parent I realise the importance of feeling part of your child’s early years' development at Playgroup and Preschool. It is very reassuring to get an update from the teachers and so I’m very thankful that Power NI has given me the opportunity to support Belmont Playcare with this £300 to help them to buy an additional iPad for their staff.”
Belmont Playcare Coordinator, Lisa Passmore commented:
“Belmont Playcare can’t thank Power NI enough for this financial support. Communication has been so important to us through the pandemic and an additional iPad will help us to keep in touch with our parents more easily and will help us to focus on the children’s development. Thank you Power NI for making such a difference.”
