Belfast Ukulele Jam has received a £300 community grant from Power NI…
The Belfast based Ukulele jamming group was nominated to receive the community funding by Power NI employee, Niamh Keeley, as part of the company’s staff sponsorship scheme ‘Helping Hands’. This gives employees the opportunity to nominate local groups and organisations to receive funding. Thanks to the donation, the group was able to purchase a PA sound system for events.
Belfast Ukulele Jam is an informal, friendly group of musicians who meet for a ukulele jamming session weekly, welcoming everyone from complete novices to old hats. Due to the ongoing pandemic and restrictions the group have had to come up with new ways to spread their musical joy, now meeting every Sunday in the Ormeau Park, they entertain and encourage participation from passers-by.
Power NI are delighted to support Belfast Ukulele Jam by providing funding for a new PA sound system which will greatly benefit the group and allow them to project their music in both indoor and outdoor venues. Ukulele Jam do great work in the community from entertaining care home residents to playing at events to raise much needed funds for local charities.
Grateful for the funding Niamh commented:

Thanks to Power NI’s Helping Hands, Belfast Ukulele Jam have been able to purchase a PA sound system which will allow them to be heard far and wide!”

We have wanted to get a PA sound system for a while and this donation will help us and allow us to play bigger and better events, continuing to raise money for local charities. Please come along and jam with us – every Sunday in Ormeau Park!’
