Power NI, Northern Ireland’s largest electricity supplier, has committed £5 per domestic customer switch in a new initiative running until 13th December. The ‘Powering Together’ campaign brings together an energy supplier and charity giant to help the North Down community.
For every customer who switches to Power NI in the BT18 – BT23 and BT30 areas, £5 will be donated to Age NI until 13th December. The partnership between Northern Ireland’s leading electricity supplier and charity for older people has been ongoing for almost a decade. The duo aims to enhance the lives of older communities across Northern Ireland and educate them about their energy choices.
Age NI is more committed than ever to helping the growing aging population in Northern Ireland given the impact of COVID-19 and the effects of isolation. More than 350,000 older people live in Northern Ireland, and there are more people over the age of 50 than under the age of 19. In the next twenty years, the number of people over 50 will increase by more than 30%.
The campaign is headed up by Bangor native, Pete Snodden from Cool FM. Pete comments:
‘I am so proud to be a Bangor boy. By partnering with Power NI, I hope that we can encourage others in my local area to make the switch this season and power together to help Age NI’.

We are delighted to provide £5 per switch in the Bangor and Ards area to help further the work of Age NI. Our own staff have been taking part in the Age NI Check in and Chat service to ensure older people have a friendly listening ear during these difficult times’
