Northern Ireland Chamber of Commerce is marking it's 230th Anniversary on 17 April 2012 at a very special and unique event and Power NI is among the high profile sponsors helping to commemorate the historic occasion.

The Chamber230 Gala will be the first major business gathering in the new iconic Titanic Belfast building. The Gala will be an evening of reflection, celebration and inspiration to acknowledge the achievements of so many of our business communities’ both here and across the globe.

Having powered Northern Ireland for almost a century, Power NI (the new name for NIE Energy) has a shared local history and heritage and has supported many of these business successes and achievements over the years. Alan Egner, Power NI’s Business Sales and Marketing Manager congratulates Northern Ireland Chamber of Commerce on this milestone and explains why the occasion is also significant for the local energy supplier: “230 years of representation and businesses mentoring is a tremendous achievement and a very proud moment for Northern Ireland Chamber of Commerce.

We too can celebrate longevity and success over the years as we continue to be the leading energy supplier to the local business community. “After a decade of competition in the local business sector, Power NI is still the largest supplier here with around 30,000 businesses on our books ranging from SMEs to large manufacturers, government sites and retailers.

We are also seeing more customers coming back to us than ever before, with over 500 businesses switching back from other suppliers in the last year alone. “Chamber230 is sure to be one of the most prestigious events in the 2012 business calendar and we are honored to be in partnership with Northern Ireland Chamber to mark this memorable occasion.”

Ann McGregor, Chief Executive of the Northern Ireland Chamber commented: “Northern Ireland Chamber of Commerce is one of Northern Ireland’s longest established and most respected business organisations, with our first Chamber President led by Waddell Cunningham taking the chair in 1782. “We believe the event on 17 April will provide us with a unique opportunity to celebrate the Chamber’s long and distinguished history as well as bringing together many of our business leaders at Titanic Belfast. This iconic building is a truly spectacular addition to the Belfast skyline in what is being described as a world-class visitor attraction and events venue.”

As part of the celebrations, entertainment will be provided by convention defying jazz singer/songwriter Jamie Cullum and the Ulster Orchestra.
