Power NI, Northern Ireland’s leading energy supplier, gave a helping hand to Assisi Animal Sanctuary by generously donating £250 through its ‘Helping Hands’ staff sponsorship scheme. The donation enabled Assisi Animal Sanctuary to buy microchip scanners for its centre in Newtownards. The money came from Power NI’s continual staff sponsorship scheme called ‘Helping Hands’, where employees are encouraged to nominate an organisation, charity, or local community group of their choice to receive funding.

Power NI employee, Deidre Collins, who is from Bangor, nominated the animal sanctuary which is very close to her heart. She expressed the importance of these scanners to Assisi Animal Sanctuary:  "They will be used to check if an animal is micro-chipped. In some cases the owner can be traced and the animal can be safely returned."

Assisi Animal Sanctuary, which is based in Newtownards, offers shelter for around 200 animals and provides the highest standard of animal welfare not only on site but within the community.
