Switching FAQs

When will I get my account number?

You’ll receive your new Power NI account number on your welcome letter when your switch is complete. This normally takes around 3 weeks.

When will I receive my first bill?

You should receive your first bill around 3 months after you’ve switched. If you haven't received your bill by this time simply get in touch and we'll look into this for you.

Am I fully switched to Power NI yet?

Your switch is fully complete once you receive your Power NI welcome pack. If you don’t receive any letters from us within 4 weeks of signing up, please get in touch as there may be an error in your contact details.

Why am I still getting bills from my old supplier?

The switching process can take up to 8 weeks, so your old supplier will continue to bill you until the switch is complete. You should receive a final bill to close your account (this may take up to XX weeks after you've switched...??).

How can I be sure I won't be double billed?

When you switch we'll contact your old supplier to let them know you are switching to us. To make sure you’re not double billed the meter reading used to open your Power NI account will be the same reading used to close your account with your previous supplier.

I didn't get a letter from Power NI - am I switched?

Once the switch to Power NI is complete, you’ll receive a welcome letter. This can take up to 3weeks. If you have not received your letter after 4weeks get in touch and we'll find out why.

What if I change my mind about switching?

If you have changed your mind about switching simply give us a call on 03457 455 455 within 10 working days of the date you initially contacted us to request the switch.
